Hank and Jan: Marvel's idea of the perfect Marriage

See, I look at the seriously messed-up relationship that Hank Pym (Giant Man, Ant-Man, Yellow Jacket, Goliath, Cream of Custard Man), and Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp) and I can't help but think that this is what some of the Marvel Brass REALLY thinks of Marriage. Anyway, view the posters, collected over several decades, and tell me: Do you think I'm right, or wrong?

Well, Hank saw his first wife Maria in Jan when they first met, despite the fact that they really didn't look or act the same in any possible way.

Of course, Hank and Maria were an odd couple too. "I know, let's honeymoon in the same country I fled from!"

"But, won't they arrest you?"

"How? My last name is different."

She then dies. Hank then swears revenge...for about half an hour, gets thrown in jail and slinks off.

I remember in the Busiek/Perez Ultron story when both jan and Hank were owning up to their past mistakes and were about to move on. Hank is still haunted by what he did to her, and she owned up to her dumb mistakes as well (like marrying Hank when he was all hopped up on drugs). It really looked like they were both going to move past this once and for all and become a stronger couple.

Unfortunately, this is modern-day Marvel, so expect the same crappy stories about Hank being a wife-beater and Jan being a dumb bitch for the next 5-10 years.

Growth and maturity. Make mine Marvel!
